Planning a Transit Media Campaign That Talks to the Rest of Your Marketing
In-cab screens work hardest when they are sequenced with search, social and retail activity. A simple framework for briefing, flighting and connecting channels.

Out-of-home is often planned late and then judged with metrics borrowed from performance channels. A better approach treats in-cab screens as the city-wide backbone of a campaign and builds the other channels around it.
Step one: pick the market
Start with the city, not a data segment. Check that there are enough screens live to give your brand real presence. Fleet-wide presence across a city beats a thin spread with too few screens to be noticed.
Step two: choose a job the medium can do
- Launch a brand or product into a city.
- Build recognition ahead of a retail or event moment.
- Stay visible against a competitor.
- Drive consideration for a store, clinic or showroom.
What it cannot do alone is close a complex purchase. Brief it for recognition and let response channels handle response.
Step three: flight for continuity
Awareness fades. Sustained presence across a quarter usually beats one heavy fortnight at the same cost. If a launch forces a spike, front-load week one and then keep a lighter layer running rather than going dark.
Step four: sequence the channels
- 1In-cab screens build recognition across the city.
- 2Paid social reuses the same visuals so the recognition carries over.
- 3Search covers brand and category terms during the flight.
- 4Retail or location activity converts with the same look and feel.
If a rider cannot recognise your social ad as the same brand they saw in the cab, the sequencing has failed.
Step five: agree the read before launch
Decide up front what success looks like: which markets are exposed, what the baseline is and which metric settles the question. Fitting a measurement story on afterwards is how good media gets cancelled.
